As the bank aspires to be a top progressive Islamic bank, developing solid CSR initiatives that encompasses United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG) is a priority.
MBSB Bank’s CSR initiatives consists of activities that are in line with the Bank’s CSR pillars which are education, community, environment, workplace and industry.
All the programmes are systematically done with some that include strategic partnerships with Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs). From planning and budgeting which requires a pragmatic approach, the execution of these initiatives also take into account on the importance of human touch.

27 July
After planting the mangroves, we encountered Pak Cik Omar and Mak Cik Jamilah, who were searching for clams among the mangrove trees by digging the sand with a small sickle.
For years, they have been earning their livelihood by searching for clams in the mangrove swamp forests, especially in the Setiu Wetlands State Park.
Pak Cik Omar, a licensed clam harvester, mentioned that since the reforestation and forest rehabilitation efforts have been actively carried out, the yield from the forest, especially clams, has increased and the clams have grown larger in size. This has provided an economic boost to the local community.
MBSB Berhad, in collaboration with the Terengganu State Park Management Council, Sahabat Setiu, and Eco Knights, successfully planted 240 mangrove saplings in the Setiu Wetlands State Park.

It is essential for university students to stay informed on various cyber threats, such as phishing attacks, malware, identity theft and online scams. In supporting that, MBSB Bank Berhad (MBSB Bank) had organised a poster design competition to test the knowledge and creativity of the students on the topic and to continuously provide cybersecurity awareness.
The poster design competition was participated by 55 students from various faculties of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). Top best designs were rewarded cash prizes at a ceremony held in UiTM Puncak Alam Campus, Shah Alam in Selangor.
Nur Najwa Umaira Mohd Ismail, a creative arts student from UiTM Perak captivated the judges with her design and won first place, while second place went to graphic design student, Zamir Aizat Hamdan from UiTM Sarawak. Yasser Rosman, an international business student from UiTM Puncak Alam won third place. They took home RM2000, RM1500 and RM1000 in cash prize respectively. Correspondingly, nine consolation prize winners took home RM500 each.
The prizes were presented by MBSB Bank’s Head of Digital Business, Zainul Abidin Mustaffa. Also present at the event was the Deputy Dean of Industry, Community, Alumni & Entrepreneurship Network, Dr. Nor Farradila Abdul Aziz from the Faculty of Business and Management, UiTM Puncak Alam.
In building a cyber awareness culture within the university, UiTM also held cybersecurity talks pertaining to banking transactions, also supported by MBSB Bank.

As the holy month of Ramadan draws to a close, MBSB Bank concluded its Ramadan Programme 2024 with an Iftar ceremony at Masjid Jamek Sultan Abdul Aziz in Petaling Jaya, as part of our ongoing community engagement through the 'Masjid Angkat MBSB Bank' initiative.
The MBSB Bank team was warmly welcomed by Tn. Hj. Abdul Rahim Ismail, a member of the mosque's Governing Board. The event, which attracted nearly 300 community members, was supported by a dedicated team of 20 MBSB Bank volunteers who assisted in serving the Iftar meal.
It was also joined by MBSB Bank’s Head of Corporate Communications, Pn. Nik Surina Suria Nik Abdullah, and Head of Community Affairs, Tn. Hj. Azmi Abdul Rahim. The evening concluded with a Doa and Tahlil for the late MBSB’s Chairman, Tan Sri Azlan Zainol and the late MBSB’s Group President & Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zaini Othman.

MBSB Bank’s Ramadan Programme 2024 extended a heartwarming gesture by organising a Raya shopping spree for 77 orphans for two welfare homes; Persatuan Kebajikan & Perlindungan Rumah Jalinan Kasih in Cheras, Selangor, and Pertubuhan Anak Yatim & Asnaf An - Naafi in Ampang, Selangor.
The event kicked off with enthusiasm as children aged 1 to 19, accompanied by volunteers from MBSB Bank, gathered at MYDIN Hypermarket in Subang Jaya. Seeing their happiness while selecting the desired items for the festive season was truly heartening. This event underscored the genuine essence of Aidilfitri - fostering unity, spreading joy, and making meaningful difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
Concluding the event, MBSB Bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Nor Azam M. Taib, presented ‘Duit Raya’ to the children. Also in attendance were MYDIN’s Managing Director, Datuk Wira (Dr.) Haji Ameer Ali Mydin and MBSB Bank’s leadership namely Chief Operating Officer, En. MBSB Bank extended its Ramadan Programme to reach out to the communities of Felda Kampung Soeharto and Felda Sungai Tengi in Kuala Kubu Bharu, Selangor.
We provided essential food supplies to 315 families, supporting their daily needs and emphasizing our commitment to leaving no one behind. Beyond the food distribution, our aim is to nurture a sense of community and empower individuals and families for a brighter, sustainable future. This initiative aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal (UNSDG) #2, which targets zero hunger.
This endeavour was made possible through our collaboration with Mercy Mission Malaysia (MERCY). Together, we strive to create lasting impacts, ensuring prosperity and well-being for all.

In our commitment to provide meals for those in need, MBSB Bank once again arranged a Soup Kitchen programme on 16 and 17 February 2024 with the help of the Bank's employees as volunteers at the Pusat Gelandangan Medan Tuanku, Kuala Lumpur.
MBSB Bank Soup Kitchen in February was participated by 26 employees who helped to distribute 200 food packs on the first day of the programme.
On the second day of the programme, MBSB Bank presented essential food items to 170 deserving families.
MBSB Bank Soup Kitchen which is a collaboration with Pertubuhan Tindakan Wanita Islam (PERTIWI) plays a part in addressing hunger and is in line with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) #2, Zero Hunger.

50 microentrepreneurs participating in MBSB Bank's Growth Entrepreneurship Assistance Programme (GRAP) 2.0 attended a series of training sessions on 5 & 7 February 2024 and 24 March 2024 at Bangi Getaway in Bangi.
The participants began with the 'Pelan Pemasaran dan Jualan Ramadan' module, honing their skills in devising impactful Product Marketing Plans tailored for the Ramadan season. Emphasizing the significance of digital outreach, they actively engaged in refining marketing strategies using social media platforms and mastering business card creation tools.
Subsequently, participants showcased their marketing blueprints, revealing their adeptness in targeting niche market segments. Under the guidance of experienced coaches, their presentation skills were further refined.
Additionally, they delved into poster design using the Canva platform, enhancing their promotional creativity GRAP 2.0 is a strategic collaboration between MBSB Bank and Islamic Relief Malaysia, aiming to uplift microentrepreneurs and bolster the B40 community's economic vitality. Through skill enhancement and adept business management practices, the programme paves the way for sustainable income generation and entrepreneurial success.

MAIWP Run 2024 was organised by Majlis Agama Wilayah Persekutuan (MAIWP) to inculcate a healthy lifestyle among Malaysians.
It was participated by 11,078 runners and 150 of them were MBSB Bank’s employees, led by MBSB Bank's Chief People Officer, Farid Basir.
The run consists of five categories, 21 KM, 10 KM, 5 KM, 3KM and Family Run.

26 January
MBSB Bank kickstarted its CSR programme with the distribution of essential food items to 187 families in Klang Valley.
The two-day programme took place on 26 and 27 January 2024 at Pusat Khidmat Gelandangan, Medan Tuanku, Kuala Lumpur which involved 16 MBSB Bank’s employees as volunteers was conducted in collaboration with Pertubuhan Tindakan Wanita Islam (PERTIWI).
The initiative is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals #2, Zero Hunger.

45 microentrepreneurs completed their first training module under Growth Entrepreneurship Assistance Programme (GRAP 2.0) at the Seminar Room UNIKEB, Bangi, Selangor which is a business training programme by MBSB Bank in collaboration with Islamic Relief Malaysia.
The module focused on product and service development, exposed the microentrepreneurs to different methods to develop products through various techniques and AI softwares.
The participants had the opportunity to present ideas on the products they would like to develop and also learned how to improve their business knowledge from professional business coach.

In an effort to provide assistance to families with modest income, MBSB Bank distributed basic food items to 720 residents of Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) across Klang Valley.
The contributions made to residents in PPR Lembah Subang 1 & 2 as well as PPR Kota Damansara in Selangor are part of the Bank's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) annual programme that is in line with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) #2 Zero Hunger.

As MBSB Bank's ‘Dare to Dream’ campaign came to an end, a special visit was made to one of MBSB Bank's adopted schools. The visit, which was part of the campaign's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative was conducted to inculcate interest in sports and healthy lifestyle.
30 male students from SMK Lepar Hilir in Gambang, Pahang were given the opportunity to attend a football camp under the tutelage of Cody Harper and Ryan Griffin, coaches from Wolverhampton Wanderers FC. All the students who participated received certificates of completion at the end of the session.

One of MBSB Bank’s most impactful CSR programmes, Growth Entrepreneurship Assistance Programme 2.0 (GRAP 2.0) recently completed the first phase of its business trainings for the participants.
The training programme encompassed business model canvas development and online coaching class to help elevate business competitiveness of micro entrepreneurs. The training was attended by 50 participants from Bangi, Kajang and Semenyih in Selangor.
All of GRAP 2.0 participants are now onboard as MBSB Bank’s merchants and will be using the Bank’s DuitNow QR code for their business transactions.

11 October
It was an impactful and productive final leg of MBSB Bank's Mangrove Tree Planting joined by 32 employees from Sarawak region. 105 mangrove saplings were planted which are essential in combating climate change, improving air quality and preserving biodiversity. An upcycling workshop was also conducted where employees learned how to transform wood pieces and plastic bottles into hand-held brooms. The activity, which contributed 214 volunteer hours and in line with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) number 13, climate action.

In continuing with its sustainability initiative, MBSB Bank has taken further steps to contribute to the environmental responsibility.
Led by MBSB Bank’s Chief Technology Officer, Encik Amran Abdul Latif, 35 volunteers from MBSB Bank’s East Coast Regional Office planted 100 tree saplings at the Pantai Baging in Balok, Kuantan, Pahang over the weekend. This Tree Planting programme was conducted in collaboration with EcoKnights and supported by the Pahang Forestry Department.
After the tree planting session, an Upcycling Workshop was conducted with all the volunteers where they learnt on how to upcycle plastic wastages into card holders.

It was indeed an incredible time at the JAWI Run 2023 held on Sunday, 30 July 2023 at the Dataran DBKL, Kuala Lumpur. It was organised by Jabatan Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (JAWI) and Koperasi PPZ Berhad (KoPPZ), with MBSB Bank as the main sponsor. The event saw the participation of 3,000 runners in the 3KM and 5KM Categories. YB Senator Dato’ Setia Dr. Haji Mohd Na’im Haji Mokhtar, the Minister at the Prime Minister's Department was present and officiated the event.
MBSB Bank was represented by Encik Jesleigh Johari, Chief Operating Officer and Dato’ Azlan Shahrim, Chief Strategy Officer at the flag-off along with 150 runners from the Bank who were also joined by their family members.
The JAWI Run 2023 embraced DEI Principles by promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity as part of the event's objectives. It made a lasting impression on the participants by celebrating differences and creating an inclusive environment for all. It was a well-organised event with 15 runners brought home exciting lucky draws prizes. We extend our sincere thanks to JAWI, KoPPZ and the participants for making the event a resounding success.

MBSB Bank’s Tree Planting Programme travelled to Johor Bahru, where 25 MBSB Bank’s employees from the Southern Region volunteered with the assistance of 10 officers from Johor Forestry Department to plant more trees. 180 mangrove saplings were planted to boost the area’s restoration and conservation and this action has resulted in 175 volunteer hours. A live demonstration of plastic upcyling was also held by Precious Plastic Malaysia, in which the volunteers learned how to transform plastic bottle covers into new usable products.

Keeping the momentum going, MBSB Bank’s Tree Planting Programme headed to Sabah where 30 of MBSB Bank’s employees from Sabah region participated as volunteers.
100 mangrove sapling were planted to improve the rehabilitation and conservation of the area and this activity also contributed to 240 volunteer hours.

It is important for us to rehabilitate and mantain mangroves as it not only absorbs more carbon than the land-based forests, but also protect our shorelines from damaging storms and flood. MBSB Bank initiated a tree planting activity to improve the mangrove ecosystem in Kg. Sijangkang, Selangor.The Bank planted 100 mangrove saplings through 53 volunteers contributing 265 hours into Volunteer Hours register.

In conjunction with Global Recycling Day, MBSB Bank conducted an upcycling workshop where employees learned how to turn an old t shirt into a tote bag.
Thank you to all who participated and we would also like to thank those who contributed to the fabric donation drive. This will greatly help reduce fabric waste at landfills.

In effort to provide members of the community proper meals for improved nutrition, MBSB Bank employees participated in Soup Kitchen activity where 250 food packs were prepared and distributed.

MBSB Bank has successfully gathered 139 blood donors during the blood donation drive in support of the National Blood Bank’s effort to increase the national complete blood count. Employees also had the opportunity to perform basic health screening at the booths provided by PM Care on that day.

The employees from MBSB Bank Langkawi branch have successfully planted 50 Mangrove trees during the Tree Planting Programme in partnership with Langkawi Development Authority (LADA).
The CSR initiative which is in line with UNSDG #15, Life On Land, will also see 950 Mangrove trees being planted on behalf of MBSB Bank, by school students around Langkawi, throughout the year to conserve the biodiversity of the area.

In reducing the plight of flood victims in the East Coast, MBSB Bank distributed basic food items to families in Pasir Puteh, Pasir Mas and Kota Bharu, Kelantan typically involves providing essential food supplies to individuals or households in need. This could be part of a humanitarian effort and charitable initiative program aimed at addressing food insecurity and ensuring that vulnerable populations have access to nutritious meals.

MBSB Bank Berhad (MBSB Bank) implements a program to empower small entrepreneurs, the Growth Entrepreneurship Assistance Program (GRAP) which is part of its corporate social responsibility initiative. In support of the Government's effort to assist the communities in need, MBSB Bank, under its CSR programme called 'Box Of Care' distributed 750 bags of basic food items to three residential areas under the B40 category.

Cooking oil is often disposed through the kitchen sink and it causes kitchen pipe obstruction. A better way to handle that is by upcycling its usage by turning it into soap. MBSB Bank’s internal CSR ‘Cooking Oil For Cleaning’ in collaboration with Ecoknights shared methods that will not only reduce pollution, but it can be also be a fun activity to do with family and friends.

MBSB Bank kick-started its first Internal CSR in 2020 with Cooking For A Cause programme. In collaboration with Food Aid Foundation, Cooking for A Cause addresses the need for nutritious food amongst the needy. This time around, MBSB Bank employees prepared and cooked for a charity home in Klang Valley.

The Sg. Dusun Wildlife Conservation Centre has been dedicated place for Jabatan Perhilitan to conserve the Malayan Tapir. Since 2004, they have worked with Malaysian Nature Society to bring awareness to the public on the importance of safeguarding our local wildlife to maintain the biodiversity in the country. 40 employees were very fortunate to visit the centre and be part of the conservation program.

MBSB Bank in collaboration with the NSTP Group – BH Didik continuously organized Seminar BH Didik 2019 Phase 2 for its adopted schools, by focusing more on answering techniques as well as acquiring the right knowledge and skills in facing the national examination test.

MBSB Bank in collaboration with the NSTP Group – BH Didik had organized Seminar BH Didik 2019 Phase 1 which helps inspire and encourage MBSB Bank adopted schools’ students to prepare themselves mentally and physically for their UPSR examination. For the first phase, they focusing on study techniques according to exam standards and understanding the examination format.

Impacting Lives, Heightening Aspirations by MBSB Bank to showcase MBSB Bank’s commitment in empowering students by providing equal opportunities for its adopted schools in providing intensive and fun learning approach for the student through explorative and experimental learning as well as visionary learning. The programme is designed to inspire and encourage the students to prepare themselves mentally and emotionally for their UPSR examination.

MBSB Bank initiated the awareness campaign amongst students on bullying which has become a worrying issue in Malaysia by focusing more on the root cause of bullying, how to deal with it and the importance of the student future.

10 November
In an effort to stem the loss of biodiversity, cleaning was organized at Sungai Selangor in partnership with Malaysian Nature Society (MNS). This activity is to raise awareness for the conservation of one of country’s main source of water. The clean-up has resulted a collection of 259 kilograms of rubbish and the Nipah trees were planted by 40 MBSB Bank employees.

6 October
In partnership with Malaysian Nature Society (MNS), this program is focused on the Sepang Gold Coast beach, one of the famous tourist attractions in the Klang Valley. 89 kilograms of trash were collected, sorted and recycled by 41 employees. 300 Adler seedlings and saplings were also planted.

8 September
In collaboration with Food Aid Foundation, CFAC is a food distribution program for the community in high density and low income area for 126 families across the country. Since 2015, MBSB Bank staff has been volunteering to prepare and distribute the food to the beneficiaries.

10 August
MBSB Bank partnered with Eat, Shoots and Roots for a program that taught the staff how to grow with decompose items. During this activity, the 30 employees were taught non cultivation gardening methods.

7 August

19 May
Ramadhan activities with 300 children from Rumah Pengasih Warga Prihatin (RPWP) included Iftar and handing out of duit raya and raya clothes. On the same day, home supplies and groceries were distributed around the Sungai Ramal area to 17 homes.

12 May
The tree planting program is in partnership with Forest Reserve Institute Malaysia (FRIM). 56 MBSB Bank staff volunteered to plant 50 trees at a designated area in FRIM.
